The Glenview School of Arts features the student Kaylee Kim, who joined our High School Portfolio Program and over the course of 6 months, she developed a well-rounded high quality portfolio for art school admissions.
Her lessons had an emphasis on strong technical foundation skills, as well as digital and animation techniques.
Kaylee was both accepted and awarded scholarships at these universities:

The Glenview School of Arts congratulates our student Sarah Warner for being accepted by The School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a $20,000 scholarship/year, Rhode Island School of Design, Pratt with a $26,000 scholarship/year, Boston University with a $20,000 scholarship/year, New York University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Colby College.
Sarah has been a dedicated student with us for many years, building her art skills and portfolio with our lessons on traditional foundational art. By learning techniques regarding proportion, perspective, color theory, tones, structures, blending, and so on, she has been able to creatively express her ideas visually with various art mediums.
Sarah will continue her journey as an artist and attend one of the prestigious universities that accepted her portfolio. Congratulations, Sarah!

We’re eager to welcome all students and parents to witness the creativity of our art community. The showcase is now OPEN and will stay up until June 27th. On your visit, we highly recommend visiting the Raupp Memorial Museum, which is only 2 minutes away from the Buffalo Grove Fitness Center. The museum is educational, well organized and our exhibition wouldn’t have been possible without them and YOU!

We’re looking for creativity, craftsmanship, and vibrant colors in your winter themed/holiday ornaments.
You can submit as many ornaments as you’d like.
For this contest we will be accepting any medium, any shape! ( Either in 2D or 3D )
Sizes: For 2D Art submissions we accept up to 6“ x 6“
For 3D art we accept up to 5“ x 5“Please tag or label your artwork with your name, phone number and age.

Animation & Digital Art [Gallery]
About our Animation Classes:
Students are introduced to animating in digital software such as Procreate, Photoshop and Adobe After Effects.
First they will learn how to hand draw their own character, objects, and background, as well as develop a simple narrative. Throughout the course, students will develop digital software skills through in-class exercises and a personal project.

Covid-19 Update
We are pleased to announce that we will be opening for in-person Summer Camp on June 8th, following the guidelines set forth by the Illinois government.
The following measures will be implemented for the health and safety of our campers and staff.
Contact-less temperature screenings will be conducted at the door every morning
Masks will be required for all staff and campers
Classes will be divided into 45-minute intervals with a 10-minute break where students can exit the building and remove their mask under staff supervision
Ceramics class will be replaced with Painting class
Campers must have their own materials for all classes - no sharing of materials allowed
Desks and school layout will be changed to allow for social distancing
The school will have a maximum occupancy of 10 people - classes will be capped accordingly
Lunches will be eaten outside with social distancing guidelines (weather permitting)
All staff and campers must bring their own water bottles and food
We will also be offering drawing classes over Zoom if enrollment minimums are met, for those not comfortable with attending camp in person. Partial days, single classes, and before/after care are still available to in-person campers.
About Summer Art Camp
The Summer Art Camp program is designed to introduce children to different art forms. Students will learn to use various mediums and will be assigned different projects to complete throughout the session. The Summer Art Camp is not only fun, but also very educational. Students will leave with a sense of achievement and a strong foundation in art. Campers will have daily activities and projects. The camp introduces students to Drawing and Painting, Ceramics, Pottery Painting, Storybook Making, and Multi-Media. Campers can choose full time or part time enrollment. There is a $50 registration fee for campers. Cost is based on how many times a student attends per week.

Summer Session #1: 6/08/2020 – 7/10/2020 (5 weeks)
Summer Session #2: 7/13/2020 – 8/14/2020 (5 weeks)
Extended Art Camp: 6/01/2020 - 6/5/2020, 8/17/2020 – 8/21/2020

Camp Class Descriptions:
Fashion Illustration
Students will create their own unique fashion designs on top of illustration templates. Students can cut out their fashion models and then create their very own fashion books!
Art History
Learn to create art projects inspired by famous and talented artists! Students will have the opportunity to learn about artist biographies and also explore the various techniques that made the artists famous.
Story Book Making Class
Let's create and illustrate our own stories.
We can keep these books as wonderful memories of fun and free expression.
Multi - Media Class
This class will focus on 3D projects and the development of 3D observational skills.
Student will use materials such as paper mache, construction paper, clay, and wire to create animals, trees, buildings, and abstract shapes.
Drawing and Painting
Have fun while learning drawing techniques. Use observation, imagination, and a wide variety of materials to create unique works of art.
Digital Art
Learn Photoshop and how to draw on a tablet. Beginners, intermediate and advanced are welcome to unleash their imagination within this spill-free art zone by painting, sketching and drawing.
Oil Painting (Advanced Camp Only)
Students will be guided through the process of creating oil paintings step by step. They will learn how to build up layers, create tone and shadow, blend, and finish a piece.
Sculpture (Advanced Camp Only)
Building on skills learned in Ceramics, campers will create more complex 3D works of art with an eye towards sculptural expression.
Stop-Motion Animation (Advanced Camp Only)
Campers will have the opportunity to create their own short film using a variety of media. After filming, campers will be taught how to edit their films, as well as how to add sound effects and a score, to create a fully realized film!
Independent Study (Advanced Camp Only)
What is your artistic dream? Campers will come up with individualized projects to work on over time in service of their goals. Want to be a comic book artist? This is the time to make your own comic. A medical illustrator? Learn about anatomy under teacher supervision. The options are limited only by your imagination!
Animation Classes
Ages 9-13 and up
Intro to Animation (Starts 7/6/20)
Students will become familiar with reading animation as sequences, and will get an introduction to the animation principles with Photoshop tools.
Price: $480 for 7 weeks
Intermediate Animation (Available Fall Session)
Students will incorporate intermediate-level digital drawing skills to create an engaging animation.
In class activities include animation principle excercises
Prerequisite: Intro to Animation/Sketching ability
Price: $550 for 7 weeks
Character Design for Animation (Starts 7/6/20)
Students will create characters, based on given design prompts.
In class activities include drawing emotions, shape and silhouettes. Students will leave with an animated character at the end of the course.
Prerequisite: Student must have work samples that demonstrate solid traditional and digital drawing skills
Price: $625 for 7 weeks
Digital Drawing (Fall Session)
Students will learn the core techniques of digital drawing and photo manipulation in Photoshop.
Prerequisite: Student must have work samples that demonstrate solid traditional and digital drawing skills
Price: $675 for 7 weeks
Animation and After Effects (Fall Session)
Students will create a visually engaging animation by combining the two programs that are commonly used by professionals
Prerequisite: Must present digital drawing samples and be familiar with Photoshop
Price: $750 for 7 weeks
Teacher Training Program 2020!
Classes begin on July 6th
The Teacher Training Program at The Glenview School of Arts has been certified by the Illinois Board of Higher Education since 2015. This program is designed to offer future art teachers a comprehensive understanding of K -12 art education. We work closely with students to prepare them for their careers as art teachers. Not only will students learn how to teach but they will also get real world experience by instructing classes of their own. We offer 4 courses: Learning to Teach Art, Learning to Teach Elementary Art, Learning to Teach Middle School Art, and Learning to Teach Art Portfolio Development.

Summer Camp 2019 Wrap-Up
A big thank you to all of our wonderful campers and counselors that made this Summer Camp one to remember! This year marked the first time we offered individual classes during our regular summer programming, as well as our inaugural ice cream outing. 2017 Summer Art Exhibition:
On Friday August 18 from 6-8PM, Glenview School of Arts held an art show with works completed by students in all classes of our Summer 2017 session. The show was a successful showcase of dozens of wonderful artworks. Thanks to all who came out! We want to commend our students for all their hard work this semester, and we look forward to the Fall Sessions.

The Glenview School of Arts encourages its students to join the annual Metra safety poster competition, promoting safety in a fun and imaginative way. We believe in the importance of community competitions and have been proud of our winning students.
