Classes

Drawing

This class focuses on drawing concepts including form, line, value, color, and composition. The purpose is to increase the student's drawing techniques and knowledge.

Beginner - This class will focus on basic drawing concepts including form, line, value, color and composition. Students will use pencils, colored pencils, charcoal, pastel and crayons.

Intermediate - Students will increase their knowledge of basic skills, particularly composition. Students will interpret works of famous artists using different media and colors.

Advanced - Students will create original artwork by using all of their artistic knowledge. All media is available during the class.

Painting

Beginner - This class will focus on introducing students to a variety of wet mediums such as acrylic and watercolor. Key concepts will be color mixing, blending, and paint brush stroke application.

Intermediate - Students will expand on their knowledge of basic painting skills and begin shifting more focus to composition. Master artists will be referenced and interpreted by students in their own way.

Advanced - Students will create original artwork using all skills and artistic knowledge they have acquired. All forms of wet media will be available to use in experimental and inventive ways. Formal critiques will become part of the class structure, so students can learn to discuss their work with others.

Competition Class

Students will learn how to research and participate in art contests. This experience will teach students how to follow rules and create quality artwork.

Digital Art

Students will learn Photoshop and how to draw on a tablet. Beginner, intermediate, and advanced students are welcome to unleash their imagination within this spill-free art zone.

Animation

Students will become familiar with reading animation as sequences, and will get an introduction to the animation principles with Photoshop tools.

* Prerequisite: Previous artwork samples that demonstrate loose sketching and digital artwork.

Multimedia

This class will focus on 3D projects and the development of 3D observational skills. Students will use materials such as paper-mâché, construction paper, clay, and wire to create animals, trees, buildings, and abstract shapes.

Ceramics

Students will learn to make functional and decorative ceramics by hand. Basic ceramic skills will be taught: coiling, slabs, pinching, and modeling.
